My Learning From Google For Studies Workshop

I recently attended Google for Study Workshop offered by Young Innovators Network. From attending the Workshop my knowledge of Google was enriched by learning about the different types of technologies that Google offers to users for common purposes. That includes I feel that my learning speed increased thirty per cent more as a result. I learnt about Google Sheets and how to use the advanced search to tailor your search criteria by finding all search results in the first page. I also learnt about using the following technologies for learning: Google Contacts, Google Hangouts, Google Keep, Google Calendar, Google Groups, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Translate, Google Spreadsheets, Google Slides, Google Maps, Google Scholar, Google Classroom and Youtube.

Young Innovators held the first of its four-part Google For Studies Workshops on the 3rd of January 2019 at CYC, Leumeah. The workshop started at 6 pm and concluded at 9 pm. There were a total of ten participants at the event. The vast majority of the participants enjoyed the workshop as the instructor Ali S facilitated collaboration and interaction amongst participants through using interactive technologies such as HelloSmart to encourage participants to share their answers on questions and organising groups amongst the attendees to complete a task. The task involved group members collaborating together to complete a three thousand word essay. The question of the essay was to determine how the role of the teacher has evolved in the 21st century. This enabled participants to enhance their ability to be more effective researchers and navigators of Google for their study.

Young Innovators recently commenced a workshop programme for students as part of their summer holiday series to bring passion driven interactive learning and experiential based learning to participants without homework, assignments, pen, paper or exams. The purpose of these workshops is for the facilitator to be a mentor rather than a teacher as the emphasis was on student centred learning.
